A restaurant in Lyon, rooted in Vieux-Lyon

Aux Trois Maries keeps the Lyonnaise table alive on rue des Trois-Maries: local produce, attentive service, one of the oldest bouchons in the city.

The house

A bouchon, not just another restaurant

Eating out in Lyon means finding the real Lyonnaise table behind the tourist signs. Aux Trois Maries, born in the middle of the last century, holds that thread without folklore: honest, local cooking served in a room of chequered tiles and wall slates.

The address takes its name from rue des Trois-Maries, named in the 17th century after the three Marys of the Gospel. Lunch here is like dinner: sourced from chosen producers, in a more contemporary Lyon bistro spirit, yet always convivial.

The location

Below Fourvière, steps from Saint-Jean

The restaurant sits on one of the cobbled lanes of the Renaissance quarter, a World Heritage site. All around: Saint-Jean cathedral, the Saint-Paul district, the Fourvière hill and the traboules — the perfect setting for a Lyonnaise break.

The Vieux-Lyon metro station reaches the quarter within minutes from Bellecour and the Presqu'île. In fine weather, the terrace spreads over the cobbles, in the shade of the lime tree on place de la Baleine.
